StreetLevel: Pizza and Maybe Banh Mi for 5th Ave
The two storefronts next to Willie’s Dawgs on 5th Avenue between 5th and 6th streets are about to be home to a couple new businesses. According to a sign that’s gone up, one will be a new pizza place called Prego’s. Contractors working on the store say it’s supposed to open very soon. More exciting:…

More exciting: A poster on Brooklynian says there’s word the storefront next to Prego’s will be a banh mi joint, and a store owner on the block told us he’d heard the same rumor. GMAP
I was talking about Bahn Mi, Rob.
If I eat pizza (which is not that often) my favorite is the one up by my place.
Or Franny’s.
HA! me and 11217 agreed totally on something!

Second gay bar would be fine by me, except for the fact that pretty much every bar in Park Slope is already filled with gays. And if you count lesbian bars (they are gay too afterall) there is more than one already.
why do gays like to marginalize themselves so much anyway? i think gay bars are gross. i do like lesbian bars tho

Soul or southern food
Senagalese
Malaysian
Vietnamese (not Banh Mi)
A second gay bar
LOL @ a second gay bar. most of the bars in park slope are pretty gay to begin with, no?
and i know im not cultured and stuff, but what exactly is vietnamese food? there has been non stop yammering about it for the last year or so everywhere but i cant for the life of me imagine anything tasty coming out of vietnam. sorry!

I 2nd good BBQ
Ditmas…do you live in Park Slope? 🙂
Honestly, I don’t think Park Slopers are so adventurous in their eating and besides Soul food, I’m not sure the others you mention would do all that well.

I’d be fine with a Vietnamese restaurant but these two spaces we are talking about here are quite small and narrow…just enough room for a pizza joint and a sandwich shop.

I’ll be stopping here on my way home from the gym.
what the hell is the point of going to the gym only to stop for pizza afterwards? what a double waste of time. hahaha

I’d also like to see:
Good barbecue
Cajun/Creole (beyond Two Boots)

That would be good indeed, DS. Those banh mi ‘wiches are only an occasionaly hankering. They’re kind of gross sometimes – sometimes I feel like having one and then I remember all the weird ingrediants to it and lose interest.
