Eggs and bacon are back on the menu for the South Slope following the recent opening of the Little Purity Diner. The delectably named eatery—an offshoot of the New Purity Diner on 7th Avenue and 7th Street—has set up shop on 12th Street and 7th Avenue, in the space that used to house Katina’s Diner. South Slopers glad to see the brunch spot revived? GMAP

  1. There are indeed quite a few of the homosexual persuasian in Park Slope.

It used to be one of the largest lesbian enclaves in the country, and no doubt there are still quite a few, although I believe some have defected towards Kensington and other less expensive areas. I still see a ton around though.

There seems to be an ever-increasing amount of gay men as well. I notice a lot of “us” up in the North Slope area especially.

The family and stroller mom business gets a lot of press, but it’s just that…press. I’d say if I had to take a guess, I’d say a good 50-60% of Park Slope is made up of singles…both gay and straight.

  2. “Wait, so is there a large gay population in Park Slope?”

Oh indeed. Many of the lesbians have moved on to Ditmas Park, but there is still a sizable queer contingent in the Slope.

  3. Wait, so is there a large gay population in Park Slope? Serious question. I hope so. I’m apartment hunting in the area and would love for there to be more than just young families and stroller moms in the neighborhood.

  4. no, most places around are gay friendly…you are correct…i suppose i just mean somewhere where gays actually hang out.

would be nice to meet some potential mates round here.

    i mean…i love union hall…it’s great…but very few gays there…
