legion, there’s a big difference between Korean barbecue (which is good) in Sunnyside and the best French cuisine with a rose filled room and one of the best wine list in the city.
I eat on the street in Thailand. that doesn’t mean its a sustitute for the best restaurants in that city either.
DIBS,
sure, I went to Bouley a few times and recently to Blue Fin in Times Square and Vong is still quite good, but seriously, I can have a great Korean Barbecue in Sunnyside and use the $200 left over for Birdland and a Cohiba.
Yeah DIBS he mentiones it in the book and he also talks a lot about Thailand and illegal Latinos working in his kitchens and how he’ll take a Latino anyday over any of the trained culinary school chefs to work with in his kitchen.
“But then again I’m partial to drummers. I love the vest he’s wearing.”
Don’t make me break out my drumming pics from the ’90s with the feathered hair, the ripped jeans, the earrings and the leather vest that almost broke the needle on the Fromage-O-Meter!
I paid $160 for 2 with 2 bottles of wine. That said I’d gladly pay $500 at Le Grenouille. No one wants to spend his whole life eating in Flushing, Jackson Heights, Jamaica & Elmhurst.

I agree that the best Chinese food is in Flushing. Most of the places in Chinatown are crap. Best Latin is jackson heights, too.

Actually Legion does make a good point. The best Chinese food in the city is on Main Street in Flushing.
La Grenouille…the best dining experience in ALL of NYC…
