DH, so Smorgasburg was fun? i heard its weird becuase you basically spend all day waiting on line. once it is 90 degrees and sunny out, that may not be a fun prospect. nothing like a 3pm lobster roll that has been out in the sun for 6 hours. f’ing gross.
the problem with kids nowadays is that “asshole kids” do not exist. assholes kids really have “ADD” or “ADHD” and get a bunch of pills to mellow them out when good old fashioned parenting would probably do a whole lot more good.
Poor Slate, his mother made him wear his night retainer out of the house, no wonder the poor kid was prone to violence, he was probably bullied all day long.
S4E — no, they just bustled around in the background and talked quietly to each other, and occasionally smiled at us. But we were jewish kids — we thought we were breaking some commandment just by being near all those crosses and whispered prayers.
slope4eva and dibs,
It’s very interesting about autism because I was talking about this with family last week.
There a MANY children in our neighborhood who have been diagnosed with Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder or Sensory “issues”.
I grew up here in NYC surrounded by kids everywhere and I never knew one with autism.
I knew one kid (Slate, at least that’s what everyone called him) who wore one of those metal wire braces linked to his teeth and around his neck, who cursed like a sailor and was somewhat mentally challenged and prone to violence but not Autistic.

One factor, out of many, that has been associated with autism is older fathers.

Same here. I never even heard of that term when I was a kid.
