  1. “I suspect Rem Koolhaus would think most new architecture being built was terrible crap. I somehow doubt he’d be standing up to applaud your fedders shitboxes, benson.”

    Memo to Bfarewell: lighten up.

  2. wow,
    slope4Eva and dibs,
I can’t imagine allowing that with my two kids in school!
I do understand how an out of control child might have to be restrained or held with a firm grip but it seems difficult to apply punishment uniformly. One person’s grip is another person’s bruise.
It seems to really be a place where parents have to step in and be accountable.

  3. Thinking back to your childhood, can any of you think of a child who may have had Autism. My mother and I have this conversation all the time, and wonder where was Autism a few decades ago. I know it is hard to diagnose even now, but we cannot think of anyone who may have been afflicted and not diagnosed. Just wondering.

  4. God, I wondered what gentrified Williamsburg. Now i know it was the pervasive historic preservation efforts that landmarked all those, uh, brownstones over there. Whew. Question answered.

  5. Oh Legion, you name it. Ruler across knuckles, slap across face, chalk thrown at head, head knocked into blackboard. It was not a thoughtout punishment, it was violence out of anger and frustration. And, I’m not referring to kids out of control. It was due to talking in class, getting a wrong answer, etc.
