  1. Well, I could still be incorrect; I didn’t see any statement from IMF in the papers…

I can’t say I’m surprised that a sexually abusive nutcase was running a major government agency. I mean, berlusconi, schwartzenegger (either of which I may have misspelled) and doubtless scores of others.

Arrogance and power are not typically a recipe for politesse, but they make for a lot of executive-types.

  2. Hi arkady!

I’m worried about the sunflowers. Did you sow the seeds and have any sunflowers sprouted? Nothing going on with sunflowers that I can tell in our front garden, although various kids and dogs have stomped around there so it may not be a problem with the seeds.

However, we have some very happy plants this year — foliage came in early on the crape myrtle and the lilac is blooming about a week ahead of its schedule, which means a week behind normal (our back yard seems to exist in a zone of its own, and is always three weeks behind the rest of Brooklyn). The snow really reshaped our azaleas, though.

BTW, how many years should I give the friggin trumpet creeper to bloom before I give up and rip the darn thing out?

  3. Bfarwell, well I was under the impression he was, but ok. And the fact that the IMF made that statement meant that they weren’t going to “cover” for him, which is reassuring to me.

“While you are focusing on this faux-socialist”

Please point out a real socialist.

What I am focused on is that a violent sexual predator was running the IMF.

    Oh, never mind.

  5. “no more gov’t spending!!”

    DH, now you’re learning:

Government spending on/involvement in social programs at home = BAD

Government spending on/involvement in “spreading democracy” through force everywhere else in the world = GOOD
