  1. “so please refrain from finding some sort of moral equivalence between the Christian based history of this nation today and a nation such as Saudi Arabia which seeks to live in the 8th century.”

Again, no one has said this or tried to make that argument. You need to learn how to focus and what is actually being said instead of making it up.

I realize you think Christianity is superior to all other religions- but then again, every religion feels the same way. One of the most stupid and destructive concepts ever invented by man- G-d is on MY side. I wonder what G-d actually thinks about that?

  2. BHS, there is a cable car up one of the surrounding mountains in Chattanooga. We were there last year (around this time actually) but didn’t do the cable car. It was one stop on a NYC-DC-Monticello-Blue Ridge P’way-Boone-Asheville-Birmingham-Tupelo-Memphis-Arkansas-Kansas City-NYC road trip we took with the kids last year.

  3. I was talking about something a bit different, and perhaps more fundamental, bxgrl.
Not whether rights should be equal and how to apply them, but how it is decided what ‘rights’ are, and on what basis is that decision made.

The point about less government was that if there is no rational way to agree on universal rights, it seems sensible to limit the government’s ability to define them.

  4. Legion- once again, trying to change what you said to win an argument.

No one, especially not the majority of American Muslims, are seeking to import sharia law wholesale in the US. Nor is Sharia law a prevailing law in Europe (to understand what it means reread MM’s post about t he use of Jewish law here in the US).

Don’t give me that yes or no crap- first of all its not a simple issue, secondly, if you want to discuss it, use facts, not your overblown imagination. You don’t even understand the issue, now you’re going to imply that MM and I support radical Islam? You can’t possibly be more ludicrous.

  5. The houseboat thing lends itself well to two couples and no kids. Our good friends who would otherwise be couple #2 just adopted two young kids so they’re out of consideration for this year. We’ve been trying to think of who else we could take with us. Rob and 11217 maybe?

  6. The new testament does not supercede all the laws of the old testament. Some laws are clarified.

Also, the discussion of “old testiment laws” was had by Paul and Peter. Peter believed that the gentiles should follow Jewish law and Paul disagreed. Paul spent the bulk of his ministry teaching gentiles.

After the curcifition many Jewish followers reverted back to tradional Juadism for fear of persecution. The other folded in with the gentile and adopted their way.
