Has anyone seen the great debate about the Chinese method of strict parenting on the Wall Street Journal online? Three hours of violin per day, four hours of homework, no dating. I have been following it with great interest.
Today the mother admitted that actually she changed her ways when her 13-year-old daughter rebelled.
“I’m sure there are differences between these different scotches. My point is that it’s human nature to subcategorize and then try to distinguish yourself by forming an opinion on narrow little subcategories.”
the categories exist because they DO taste different. then people pick what they like the taste of.
mexican water and american water are both H20 – but one makes me go diarrhea and the other doesn’t – so i like american water better.
It’s been my observation that successful people or organization always see a competitive loss as an opportunity for self-reflection improvement. They will ask themselves: do we need to improve our skills? Did we communicate well? They will also understand that all humans have the capacity for self-delusion, and so will look to an outside party for honest feedback.
As we all know, the Democrats and the left side of the aisle took a “shellacking” last November, in the President’s words. Time to take stock? Nah, much easier to indulge yourself in crazy theories that Sarah Palin is responsible for the work of a deranged person, or that “The Man” is at work, blocking your message.
