Joe Biden just arrived on a surprise visit to Afghanistan to assess the war progress.
Does anyone besides me think a trip like this is an incredible waste of taxpayers’ money???
And if he, or someone else from the administration did NOT go, there would be more howling about how they don’t care about the troops, blah, blah, blah.
Yea, it’s a trip designed to rally the troops, boost morale and all that good pr stuff. So what? Sometimes that is a necessary thing to do. It’s bad enough the American people, en masse, don’t connect to the war at all, unless they have loved ones or friends who are there. More leaders from both parties, especially high up, need to take field trips to see the ramifications of their rhetoric.

Exactly, but it’s equally delusional to hope so. Note that ONE serial gun killing in Scotland, and then in Australia, caused stringent changes in the gun laws.

No, it’s equally that otherwise reasonable people fanatically believe the fiction about the II amendment being about individual ownership and “freedom”. If it were only the crazies, there would be some hope of change.
It’s a good house, CGar. Importantly, it’s had a lot of work done to it and it’s in move-in condition. Seems like we could live there for 10 years without anything major going wrong. Not buying into a bow wave of repairs and reno. I’ve told my wife that one of my conditions for moving up there is we have to accept the house exactly like it is. No “oh let’s buy and then we’ll just tear out this wall etc etc”.

Carmelo could cost more to D than add to O. Knicks need to get bigger and stronger in the middle so my fellow MOT Amar’e can slide back to power forward.
