  1. Hey wasder – lots of reasons (commute, proximity to VT, wife is sick of alternate side parking), but the only iron-clad one is financial. I can buy a nice house up there for 50% of what I would spend in Brooklyn, and I think housing prices up there are at a bottom and in brownston Brooklyn are at or near a top.

  2. dave, how much snow are they calling for now? I’ve heard varying predictions, all increasing. Not like the media likes to hype a storm or anything, and last weekend’s 4-6 inches did not materialize.

  3. cmu, since the JFK assassination, every ‘incident’ HAS sparked a national debate on gun control. And after every incident, laws have been passed. And yet ‘incidents’ continue to happen.

Maybe there should be a national debate on handling mentally ill people, since gun laws don’t seem to be having much effect.

But I think L is right, today is not the day, and from here on in I will shut up on the issue unless gravely provoked.

  4. “OK, I agree with both benson & MM on the troop morale issue.

We will not be able to accomplish anything more by staying in Afghanistan. Karzai is one of THE MOST CORRUPT leaders in the world.”

Me, too. And, unfortunately, I agree with dave about Karzai an dwhat we can accomplish – or not – in Afghanistan.

  5. CGar, the listing photo didn’t do the river views justice – they’re much better in person. And it’s a year-round view, no trees that will block the view in the summer because it’s on a sort of steep hill.
