jackal — I emailed you, but the gist is, if you’re going to make the move, that house looks like a really good choice, for CGar’s reasons and then some. And yes, suburbs were hit much harder than Brooklyn on prices over the last 3 years so there’s some value in the trade.
DIBS – Total commute 45 minutes to an hour depending on which train I get. So basically same as I have now, but Metro North instead of F /G / A / C / E / M mix-n-match combo.
On another note — looks like someone (Gabby??) from Philly Brownstoner is trying to continue with a locally branded site that picks up where philly stoner left off, but with a lower overhead of columnists. PhillyStoop.com or something like that.
Lech–Alternate side parking is a bitch for sure. but the financial thing is interesting. I am surprised that the Westchester market has taken such a hit while the Brooklyn market has remained relatively strong. I suppose its just a matter of time before a similar fate befalls the Brooklyn market (though we have been waiting a long time for this crash). Good luck to you either way. What is the time frame?
CGar,,,they’re still not sure whether it will hit NYC. It might move offshore by the time it gets this far north. Yes, the storm last Friday was way over-hyped.

CG – I’ve seen an estimate of a foot plus in NYC.

I’m flying to NH from Philly on Thursday morning.
“SO NO ONE HAS ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT THE FACT THAT I MIGHT BE GIVING BROOKLYN A GIANT MIDDLE FINGER AND MOVING TO DOBBS FERRY???”
Can I help you pack? : P
