  1. Rob, my point is that if you want to get something done it usually requires teamwork.

Arkady, I doubt you didn’t do much teamwork. Surely you had to cooperate with your own clients, just for example.

  2. I’m a bit embarrassed about my MBA because I feel feel that the caliber/quality of school that I went to was inferior. I can say without a doubt that my MBA was much easier that my undergrad Computer Science degree at a liberal arts school (Birmingham-Southern College).

I also think I have a mild case of college-envy after living after living in LA and NYC for 8 years, were it seems that every other person went to UCLA, Berkley, Cal Tech, Columbia, Princeton, etc…

  3. hey folks,

Littlelegion had a problem with a bully last year in the first grade. Actually came home with a black and blue on his face.

It was a tricky situation as my first instinct was to do the same to that kid’s parents.
Do we have him try and talk it out?
Do we talk to the other kid’s parents?
Do we have the Parent Coordinator deal with it.
The parent coordinator was only interested in sweeping it under the rug in order to keep the reportable offenses numbers down at the school (which is an excellent school).

    Anyway,
Mrs.legion supported the talking it out approach.
So I stood back letting him take some lumps as I recall getting into fights in school practically every day in the first and second grades.

It persisted and so that’s where I stepped in with my simple plan.
I told him next time this kid attempts to hit you,
    punch him in the face.
He did just that in the gym when the kid tripped him.
Punched him in the eye and the kid started crying.

    Never happened again.
Now they’re friends who get along fine.
littlelegion gets his brown belt later this year.

  4. I know 6 kids in their first or 2nd year of college none of whom had help on application process in any way except paying the fees. (And they’re all kids I helped w/ homework & they’re all in good schools.)

I’ve never worked for anyone but myself – no teamwork necessary, just management capability.

It’s my understanding that basically all the prep school parents write their kids college essays. Why don’t the colleges make the kids sign honor codes with their applications?

Most of the parents work for Wall St. There’s no such concept as “honor code” to begin with.

  6. “teamwork is for the weak. sorry, but it’s true.

you’re born alone and you die alone. screw the people who get in the way in the middle.”

So Rob, when you clawed your way to the top you didn’t rely on teamwork?
