“Intelligence analysts will tell you that Iraq, was a magnet for jihaadists during the last 7 years. Say what you will, it started as a war againt Saddam but ended with the severe dimunition of al quaeda’s capacity to wage war against us.”
The last 7 years- that would be AFTER we invaded Iraq and took down Saddam. You just proved my point- thank you.
Diminished Al Qaeda’s ability to attack us? Not exactly- it inspired even more jihadists and radical groups. And Al Qaeda has been regaining strength. We had no war with Irag- we had one with Al Qaeda and we blew it.I don’t know what news and reports you’ve been reading but you need to take off those rose colored glasses you’re wearing.

And yes, I hold this country to a higher standard because I believe in the system. But I am not blind.
As for: “You say we are not demonstrably safer now?
prove it.” You must not be reading the news. And any increased safety we have is based on changes in our system, not in the world. The Iraq invasion made the world less safe and we will be seeing ever increasing attacks on us and on our allies and friends. So you tell me- what did invading Iraq do for us?
