  1. Dona, I was in Old Montreal for New Year’s. It’s absolutely beautiful there and it was the warmest December weather I can remember. We could have gone outside without jackets on, which is unheard of for Montreal in December.

  2. “It’s bad enough we’ve mucked up the natural progression of the governments…”

    ^^^This

I will never understand why our foreign policy doesn’t allow some societies to naturally evolve. Seems like our government is always on some overt/covert mission to control other countries for what appears to be selfish reasons.

  3. “How about approximately 5.1 million total Vietnamese casualites and a grand total of approximately 5.4 million? And that’s just from one “war”. Should I add up the rest?”

    let’s add it up then,
between Stalin and Mao we had about
    60 million communist implemented deaths,
    add to that
the deaths that the Soviets and Maoists imposed on their “enemies” since and that includes the wars in south east asia and I would increase that number another 20 million including AMERICANS.
    80 million.

how many do you attribute to the USA?

  4. “However, it has not been the stated policy of our government to go around ridding countries of horrible despots. (which is not to say they haven’t tried, and succeeded, before) If it was, we should have declared war on Milosovich years before, as well as North Korea, Libya, Liberia, Angola, Zimbabwe, and a host of other countries who all have horrible, evil leaders.”

    THANK YOU, MONTROSE!

  5. Legion- you pointed out that Iraq has become a mecca for jihadists in the last 7 years. My point was that had we not invaded, they wouldn’t be there. We opened the gates by getting rid of Saddam- exactly what Bush Sr. knew would happen and why he did not take Saddam out during the Gulf War.

  6. Biff, I love Montreal. I went there to the casino at New Years I guess about 3 years ago (wow, time flies). This is my crazy friend who pops up every couple of months (I never know where she is, she has consulting clients all over the place and travels and is a character but when she surfaces in NY we get together) but I am always welcome at her house in Montreal and so I have been there a few times at her house. The winter is amazingly cold and so much snow. And I like the museum, and I like old town and the restaurants there and the Notre Dame is beautiful but depressing. It is like a museum and they charge you to go to church.
