The staff of large buildings are meant to be the contact points for utilities — Con Ed, phone, cable, National Grid, etc. That’s part of the point of the job. They have to be available for contact. How they choose to be available — cell phone, lobby desk phone, text, email, is partly their choice, but they have to be available.
Did you somehow flunk How the World Works 101?
Meanwhile, I’m counting bedrooms, cat beds, fish tanks, anything I can use to get my 2-fam house up to 60 units so I can call for FIOS.

Yep. One of my biggest pet peeves. And I say that as someone who has been accused (wrongly, bordering on slander, IMHO) of being a compulsive texter. Right up there with people who walk 2 or more abreast on the sidewalk, or, worse, stop 2 or more abreast on the sidewalk.

What’s shady about giving out some contact number for someone associated with the management of the building??? It’s a business.
