  1. In the old days, before anybody cared much about insider trading, I used to hear all kinds of things, from people in positions to know.
The funny part is, most of it turned out to not actually happen.

  2. It was just some union busting activity orchestrated by SEC and railroad management. Punish the union guys and let the biggies do whatever they want. Modern day corporate fascism in America.

  3. 1910,

sorry to hear about your dogs.
    glad you adopted another.

    Legiondog is a rescue,
he had no fur when I got him
and was just skin and bones.
    He was coughing up plastic
straws even a week after we got him.
We nursed him back to good health
and now the vets say he’s the
    healthiest Sharpei they’ve seen.

  4. Etson – Um, ok – yikes! not the Grand Prospect Hall silly!

Cobble – my girlfriend said the same thing and I said JUST TRY IT for a week – will it kill you? NO!
So she went from washing it every day with shampoo to washing it every other day – ha!
and her hair looks better and has more volume
I think you should give it a try

  5. My parents met at Roseland, in 1946. My mother was there with her parents!

My daughter took ballroom dancing in 5th grade at PS130 in Chinatown. She was part of their team in the competition featured in the movie Mad Hot Ballroom. (It was 2 years after the film was made, but her school’s team was a second-round loser in the movie. They did much better during my daughter’s year but weren’t in the final round.) At the 5th grade graduation party the kids actually did some merengue; no tango though. (Of course, going into it they were all creeped out about touching members of the opposite sex to dance, but they had a great time.)

  6. Gem;

There are not many wedding halls left in Brooklyn – there used to be alot. Many of my daughter’s friends opt for places in the burbs.

Has she tried “El Caribe” In Mill Basin? Another one is Sirico’s in Dyker Heights.
