rob- George Washington Carver did not invent the peanut. the peanut has been round for millennia. He was a brilliant agricultural scientist who found a gazillion ways to use it as well as the sweet potato.
ha. you have no idea how much EFFORT i have to put in walking around park slope and not wanting to roll pumpkins down the hill. im like be nice be nice be nice be nice those pumpkins are not yours.
Kids used to come out trick or treating in my neighborhood, but not so much anymore. They do mob the stores on Fulton St and Nostrand, where most of the merchants give out candy. When I lived in Bed Stuy, my block had a lot of kids, and they would come around regularly on Halloween. It’s fun.
I dressed up one year and totally freaked them out. Kids don’t like to see adults act like kids, I think it disrupts their carefully thought out expectations of what adults should do.
If I won Lotto, and bought my huge St. Mark’s mansion, I’d have a slamming Holloween party. Contributions to the building fund accepted.

Congratulations on the wedding, DCB.
“Cobble, do you have a pumpkin on your stoop?”
No, but lots of my neighbors do. I’ve seen too many of them get smashed.
