“were more like little crunchies, like thinly sliced water chestnuts, but more flavorful. Can’t explain. I bet you’d like it.”
MM! Don’t try to convert me! It’s not gonna happen! (Although you’re making them sound good, and that’s aggravating — I have to ‘stick to my guns’ here! : P )
Cobble, I’ve never been a brussel sprout fan, but this was amazing. Brussel sprouts can be bitter, but because these were sliced so thin they absorbed the flavors of the other veggies and the dressing, and were more like little crunchies, like thinly sliced water chestnuts, but more flavorful. Can’t explain. I bet you’d like it.
The only other brussel sprouts I really like are my brother’s mother-in-law’s recipe, which is Latvian. Dunno what’s in there, but really good. It’s in a slightly creamy sauce with sauteed garlic.
Pete – That’s definitely him. How lovely! Thanks. Don’t know if there are videos – school probably did some. He has several books out: Beyond Romance; Semiological Reductionism (dedicated to me for obvious reasons ;-)); Merleau-Ponty’s Ontology. Beyond Romance is the easiest read.

I always said that about brussel sprouts until had them roasted well done (cut in half) with balsamic and honey.
