  1. I and most others in this country do not believe that humanity begins at conception. Unborn fetuses are not human beings (potential human beings, yes, but not human beings) and do not have civil rights. I won’t argue abortion with a vegan who also works to repeal the death penalty and escorts insects and mice out of her home into the wild, but otherwise it’s on.

  2. “He never said that he couldn’t accept their lifestyle given his catholicism.”

    Not exactly, Dave.

“Addressing Orthodox Jewish leaders, Mr. Paladino described his opposition to same-sex marriage.

“I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family, and I don’t want them brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option — it isn’t,” he said, reading from a prepared address, according to a video of the event.

And then, to applause at Congregation Shaarei Chaim, he said: “I didn’t march in the gay parade this year — the gay pride parade this year. My opponent did, and that’s not the example we should be showing our children.” Newsday.com reported that Mr. Paladino’s prepared text had included the sentence: “There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual.” But Mr. Paladino omitted the sentence in his speech.”

  3. The civil rights of the unborn and the living are two separate issues that cannot be discussed as if they are the same. Coumo’s position on abortion is not comparable to Paladino’s positions on gay rights. Like it or not – Apples and oranges.

If you want to discuss their positions on economic policy, or how to govern the state, that’s another story. As Snappy and others have said, Paladino’s statements on those issues leaves on lacking in confidence, to put it mildly. Chris Christie, he ain’t.

  4. Legion – do you even know what it takes to “remove a fetus from a woman’s body at 6 months? it’s devasting and really no woman at 6 months decides – “oh I don’t want this anymore – doc, can you take it out??
I would even bet most doctors wouldn’t do that abortion at that point unless the mother or fetus is in trouble. I won’t sit here and argue my points on abortion by choice at any moment of the fetus development, but it’s a choice and should always remain a safe choice for any woman to have and no gov’t or relgious group should be able to take away that choice

  5. “Shall we go on to say that’s he’s ok with the termination
of human life inside a human body at 7 or 8 months because of his “pro-choice” stance.”

That’s bull, legion and you know it. No one advocates abortions at 7 or 8 months- it isn’t even legal.

As for predictability- you take the cake. I know you will spout every right wing/tea party talking point, endlessly and mindlessly. I count on you for it. Aren’t you the guy who got all bent out of shape because the President left out the words :under G-d” once from the pledge of allegiance? Please. I’m supposed to take your political opinions seriously?

What I do know about you is that if it’s Obama or the Democrats doing, saying, trying anything, in your book it’s automatically bad or wrong.

“are the rioters in the streets of Greece worrying about abortion and where a politian stands on the gay rights issue? ” No- there aren’t. So why is Palidino talking about these issues and not the big ones?
