  1. babs don’t try to change what you said. You suggested that the natural thing for – what was it, “cultured people” or something like that – to do is to be anti-paladino. It’s the sort of thing you hear from liberals time and time and time again these days. Nothing to do with substance or facts or policy or anything like that – just suggestions that if you don’t agree with them you’re dumb, or uneducated, or uncultured, or whatever.

  2. I think you are all missing Legion’s point. paladino did say that, as a Catholic, he was against gay lifestyles. But, he also said that, knowing the plight of his cousin, it was wrong for them to be discriminated against and that he would certainly have gays in his administration.

He never actually said that he hated gays or anything that extreme, merely that he couldn’t accept their lifestyle given his catholicism.

    Legion’s example was perfect.

  3. The B44 switches to Bedford after it crosses Atlantic and Fulton. There is definitely a bus that goes up Rogers; further south it runs on Ocean Ave., and it ends at Fulton St. at Bedford. The other way it runs down Franklin.

  4. gemini,

realizing this is the touchiest of touchy subjects aside from the race issue in America,
    I will say this,
Late term abortions are not a myth and the termination of pregnancy is no small thing. It is life altering for both mother and the unborn. Turn back the time frame to 6 months if you like.
Women hold the power of life.

I am not necessarily advocating for a view on either side.
I am stating the obvious and logical conclusion to an argument which is being displayed on the OT.
One in which a politician is being examined on his civil rights views.
I am posing the legitimate question on the opposing candidate,
Do his views on abortion on demand indicate his lack of respect for the sanctity of the civil rights of the unborn?

  5. Shall we go on to say that’s he’s ok with the termination
of human life inside a human body at 7 or 8 months because of his “pro-choice” stance.
Shall I take his stance on that issue and say,
well he’s ok with ending life in the womb,
so he must be ok with throwing grandma from the train,
since she costs too much to keep and
she’s used enough healthcare dollars and frankly she’s putting out too much carbon?

That is absolutely ridiculous. You would be horribly offended if I extrapolated right wing positions on gays, and stretched them into saying gays are evil and should be killed before they “infect” the rest of society. And while we’re at it, let’s leave abortion out of the discussion altogether.

  6. Thanks MM, mopar, and gemini10 too. And the B44 at the monment goes up NY and down Nostrand – I was at a hearing for the SBS a few months back and apparently they can’t devote a special lane to the SBS on NY, but they can on Rogers. It could just be another MTA conspiracy to cancel the bus line on Rogers, thus furthering Emperor Bloomberg’s plan to rid New York of the poor and less-abled by making it more and more difficult for them to get around (while working assiduously on the 2nd Avenue tunnel to nowhere). We’ll see.

I once worked with a French guy who was all over this new condo building on 1st Avenue because it was going to be so great once the 2nd Ave subway was finished. He thought I was nuts when I told him not to count on it, so he asked another colleague what he thought about it. When he said, “I’ll believe it when I see it,” the guy just about cried.

  7. i decided i only have to time to address one thing on OT per day, or I can agree with two things, so its so quick to just ditto someone. so: ditto, Ditto, Human League were overrated. Ditto on Noki’s rap-up of hothead Paladino. back to work 🙁

  8. “Cuomo is pro choice: under any circumstance as I understand it.
Shall we go on to say that’s he’s ok with the termination
of human life inside a human body at 7 or 8 months because of his “pro-choice” stance.
Shall I take his stance on that issue and say,
well he’s ok with ending life in the womb,
so he must be ok with throwing grandma from the train,
since she costs too much to keep and
she’s used enough healthcare dollars and frankly she’s putting out too much carbon?”

Regardless of his views on abortion(which I don’t necessarily believe are represented in Legion’s statement), Cuomo has not made hateful statements about pregnant women or any particular group. Paladino is on record as viewing homosexuals as “disgusting.” I can’t understand how any homosexual could just brush this off.
