  1. Snappy;

    Since you were the only one of Paladino’s opponents above to try to address an actual issue, I’d like to respond. In particular, I’d like to address your point that Medicaid should not be cut (which is one of Paladino’s main platform points – he wants to cut Medicaid spending by 20%).

    With all due respect, I think you do not know the situation of Medicaid in NYS. Please see this report:

    http://www.bcnys.org/whatsnew/2006/1012medicaid.htm

    Note that in 2006, New York State spent TEN BILLION dollars more on medicaid than California, which has TWICE THE POPULATION (and a very sizable population of poor immigrants).
    Medicaid costs are driving NYS broke.

    How is this situation possible? Two reasons:

    -Medicaid has become the equivalent of a “State-Sponsored Enterprise” in NYS, just like they have in China. Thanks to SEIU local 1199, it is a source of patronage and jobs for many constituents of the Democrat party. This is the heart of the corruption.

    -Another source of corruption are “Medicaid Mills”, which are popular in immigrant communities. Want to see one in action? On the corner of West 3 and Quentin Road in Gravesend, there is an organization called something like “Physical Rehabilitation Associates” which has leased the entire first floor of an apartment building. Ostensibly, it is supposed to be a physical therapy facility for medicaid patients. Take a peak in the windows, however, and you will see that it is a GYM for a certain ethnic group, courtesy of the NYS taxpayer.

    I am aware of this fraudulent gym because my folks live nearby.

    Andrew Cuomo will do NOTHING to fight this corruption, as it is a rich source of patronage for the NYS Democrat party.
