He also said gays ar “disgusting.” He is talking out of both sides of his mouth. You don’t think the word “disgusting” doesn’t resonate with homophobes? Just look at the events of the last few weeks in the news. You’er in denial, dave. Big time.
“I am stating the obvious and logical conclusion to an argument which is being displayed on the OT.
One in which a politician is being examined on his civil rights views.
I am posing the legitimate question on the opposing candidate,
Do his views on abortion on demand indicate his lack of respect for the sanctity of the civil rights of the unborn?”
The unborn have no civil rights- they are unborn. do you not understand this legion? Perhaps one of the lawyers on the site can explain this to you. And your comparison is off base- abortion is a private matter and women have a constitutional right to one. If you want to talk about abortion you should understand that taking away that right in favor of a embryo means taking away the most basic right of a woman to make decisions about her own body. The day you stop looking at women as simply incubators, you’ll understand that.
I can extrapolate quite a lot from what Palidino said. It means no equal rights for gay. It means treating them as second class citizens and consciously or not, setting the atmosphere for homophobes to feel ok about gay-bashing.
Don’t even get me started on what I think of his racism. And need I remind you about the major difference between the unborn and gays- Gays are members of society. They pay taxes. They are family members and they contribute to society.
so if Palidino has such a hard time with homosexuality, perhaps he’ll offer to give all gays tax amnesty. I mean, he wouldn’t want to be construed as supporting homosexuality by taking their tax money- would he?
I don’t think that Paladino should have made his religious views into a political issue in our state.
I think that the President inherited a major mess, although he was far from the first to do so in American History. Reagan had it arguably tougher. He had the very real threat of nuclear annihiliation to deal with.
Obama has done the right thing in attempting to redefine America’s role in the world, unfortunately it has not helped his position with the world and in my opinion has not worked. time to change course.
Obama has made some good strategic choices in punishing our enemies in Afghanistan and Pakistan, but perhaps it’s time to re-examine our role in Afghanistan and our long term options there. I realize he inherited that war, but it is the origin of the 9/11 threat and had to be dealt with.
He’s got some hard choices to make, he’s made some large errors domestically. We shall see what he’s made up after November.
Nothing that Paladino said would be at odds with the views of my mother and, most likely many older Catholics.
Most of them think we’d be “better off” living a straight lifestyle and raising a family.
And, like i said earlier, the Gay Pride parade does absolutely nothing in advancing the rights of gays. As much as I hate to say it, it IS a freakshow and that’s the only reason why people go to see it.
am gonna throw this out there and it’s just my opinion and sorta brainstorm type thought…
but you guys remember when the media would cover John Gotti’s “Fireworks” display in Howard Beach and the nabe was always so excited and people would travel far and wide to see it and would get on camera and say how great Gotti is to have this and how it’s sooo wrong for the feds to be going after him, he’s a “good guy” and all that….
Isn’t sorta the same for Paladino – it’s like hmm – well he smells like a duck, he walks like a duck – but….but…… he’s not quite a duck -he’s different
I just feel all the paladino supporters on here just don’t have anything positive to say about what the man has done and can do for the state but spends more time defending his dumb comments and dumb deciscions
It’s sorta like you are the same peeps that would get on camera and defend Gotti as a nice man who hosts fireworks parties and gives out free turkeys at Thanksgiving!

I and most others in this country do not believe that humanity begins at conception”
Oh really? Is this like how only the “cultured” agree with you? Please show us the responsible study that says that.
SQOTD (one of my favourites):
What if the hokey pokey really is what it’s all about?

I think it’s so hilarious that DIBS is pro paladino and all of the straight women are anti paladino on the basis that he’s anti-gay.
Liberals: fighing other people’s fights as a means to get their way on other issues since 1900.
bxgrl,
I’ll prove you wrong right now:

Murder rate up this year in NYC, especially in Brooklyn.
