Uruguay is one of the few countries that has no extradition treaty with the US. Other pluses: they have lots of great farm land and gorgeous beaches. OK, I havent been there, just saying.
Biff, I cant believe that you have to justify an anti glare screen. Do you work at a death star or a kindergarten?
Better set some limits with the hall monitors. Personally I find if I dont tell those types anything they are unlikely to figure it out for themselves.
MM – Chinese have been going to Jamaica since before WW2 – I had several friends there. (Also English, of course.)
Internet makes isolation much less nowadays. I don’t feel anywhere near the pressure I used to to go abroad to see friends. We probably stay more current now than we did when we lived in the same town.

If I ever retire I want to got north- Canada (sorry, Biff. Warn your family!) most likely.Hate summer- the heat and humidity give me a 24/7 migraine. It’s bad enough with 2+ months of it but year round I would be slicing my wrists to shreds.
Cgar, you’ll have to see it in person. I think there is a window in that little room (like there is a window above “closet” in bedroom), but it would still be very small. But maybe okay for guests/office? Better as a dressing room probably.
(there is a window ac in the living room now and it looks fine)
You have a point, Ishtar, Jamaica could be the most prosperous and influential country in the Caribbean, but they are not. I would say, among English speaking countries, excluding the American Virgin Islands, that would probably be Trinidad, and by extension, Tobago. It’s really too bad, because Jamaica has the history, the size and natural resources to be so much more. There is a lot of money going back into education, tech, etc now, and the Chinese are investing a lot of money there, but many look on that with a jaundiced eye, and rightfully so, as Jamaica still has enormous bauxite deposits and other natural resources that they have to be careful not to give away to foreign countries just to get some much needed cash today. They also need to get over that colonial mindset that makes them think that any idea coming from a Jamaican is not as worthy as the same idea from a European.
