  1. like 99 percent of people in community college are taking 9th grade remedial algebra. and they still barely get C’s. They also can’t form a cohesive sentence (tho honestly i dont think that is very important anymore).. but math is important!!

  2. “The education received at Community Colleges is going to put our students at the forefront of global competition!!!!”

no – but at least they won’t have 200k of student loan debt and no job.

  3. And the new Wall Street movie TOTALLY milked the emotional connection to the 80/09 market issues. There were these montages with music in the background where they showed totally random stuff that was meant to evoke what happened in the markets, and I could almost feel the audience leaning forward in their seats and thinking “yes! I lived through that! I was there! I have a connection to this movie and to everyone else in the audience!”

  4. lady muggers turn me on. supposedly there’s a group of female muggers in park slope. im fascinated by female criminals for some reason. i’d love to have a chat with the ones going around park slope and mugging people.

  5. Obama Calls U.S. Community Colleges ‘Unsung Heroes’
Oct. 5 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama said community colleges are the “unsung heroes” of the U.S. education system and play a crucial role in training American workers to compete in the global economy.
The U.S. is falling behind other nations in the number of college graduates, and bolstering education is key to assuring future prosperity, Obama said today at the first White House summit on community colleges.
“We are in a global competition to lead in the growth industries of the 21st century,” he said. “And that leadership depends on a well-educated, highly skilled workforce.”

  6. That’s all it was Pete. Market disruptions. It really wasn’t that big a deal when you look at some of the other market disruptions there have been in US history. The banking system didn’t even shut down. People like to make a huge deal about it because humans needs to feel emotionally connected to big commonly experienced events.

  7. oliver stone hasn’t made a coherent film in years, sorry you can’t get back your time or money.
