Jeez rob- misogynist much? You could have just as easily said, “I don’t want to pay for cupcakes from a fancy yupcake store” and still, none of us would care.

so the guy who was killed outside of that bar at 2in the morning in prospect heights… i just read that he was inside for a few hours playing poker.. meanwhile the whole time his dog was TIED TO A FUCKING POLE OUTSIDE AT 2AM IN THE MORNING IN THE HOOD! what an asshole. i hate when people do that to their dogs.
gem is right. people complain sometimes about the lack of any kind of authentic bakery in park slope, or for the most part any kind of authentic anything really. i know for a fact i wouldnt in a million years fork over my money to some moonface who opened up a yupcake store to have something to do while her ovaries marinate. just not my thing, that’s all, and that’s really all you see opening these days.
Short Cuts was the Altman based on Carver. Great movie. But Legion, Nashville is perhaps my favorite movie of all time.
And I was just in Nashville all week. got back late last night after several flight cancellations.
And Dave, being one of those left wing nut jobs, even I can admit that TARP started with Henry Paulson and the Bush administration. Something had to be done at that point. What do all the people screaming about it (mostly Tea Party types I would add, but some lefties as well) wish that the government had done? If nothing, I think we wouldn’t all be here having our witty repartee today.
Jessi, in the US around 55% of the power generated here is from coal. (now nat gas getting so much cheaper though it is gradually winnning more market share).

His bowler hat is a dead giveaway.
Also, 11217, you mentioned yesterday that people sometimes think you are English. Why is it? Because you dress “like a dandy”?

“Emile Zola’s Germinal is next on my reading list.”
It’s excellent. You won’t be disappointed.
