  1. “how does driving thru the ghetto on a bus to get to school equate to culture? you must be being sarcastic. i dont have an internal sarcasm so im just guessing here.”

No, not being sarcastic. I guess, to me, a part of being cultured is not just living in your little safe suburban bubble. I think I benefitted from my bus picking up kids in crappy neighborhoods along the way and then having them as my classmates – I guess that’s what we call diversity these days. Had I just attended the schools in burbs, I wouldn’t have had that chance to experience this. So yeah, in this instance, I meant diversity opportunity = culture. What’s culture to you?

  2. “get MM to cycle up there”

    I don’t have a bike, unfortunately.

After the Crown Heights North House tour next weekend, Oct 2nd, 11-4, planning on getting out to some new nabes.

Notice how I insert a plug for our house tour into an otherwise innocent post.

  3. Pete, the Catholic schools used to be taught by nuns, who worked as part of their vocation. Made NO MONEY, just taken care of re housing, food, medical. There are very few nuns now – the schools are staffed by paid lay teachers so they have to charge tuition.

  4. rob- I totally agree (OMG! someone get the smelling salts- he fainted!)

And not being well traveled does not make you uncultured. Lack of curiosity and unwillingness to learn might ( neither of which I could accuse you of).

I’m glad you wrote all that. I feel like I finally saw the real rob. 🙂 Nice to meet you.

  5. M4L, I’m looking to spray cabinets at weekend house. Cabinets in apartment are nice (VERY NICE CGar!)

Altho I’m very happy to sell BOTH city apartment and country house as a package! OMG. What an idea. My shoulders just relaxed for the first time in 6 months. I’m so thru with this renovation project.
