  1. dibs, I know why an apt? Probably too much space but if I had a pool or was lake/bay/ocean steps away, feet first would be my exit. Invite some friends to move in and install a bartender/dancer/nurse in one of the bedrooms.

  2. “DH – it looks great at night with the deep blue lighting. You think we could get MM to cycle up there and take some nightime pics? Its as far north in brooklyn as you can go basically, so we might have a problem”

yeah – for sure! i think MM said she was planning to come back to North Brooklyn one of these days to take some pics. between the greenpoint historic district, the churches and the shiny metal boobs we might make a return appearance to BOTD!

  3. I did my door with super hi gloss Fine Paints of Europe finish. I laid it horizontally on horses to get it right. I also did the “putty” primer coats as well.

Not the door here in brooklyn.

  4. quote:
I think a lot of the proud public school parents would make the leap if there was an option other than 25k private schools. The catholic schools used to fill that void – and still do in a lot of cities — but there is no good middle ground in NY.

yes there is. it’s called the suburbs. yes yes we all love hate hate hate on the suburbs. but they are a great middle ground for a lot of non rich families who still want their kids to get a decent education.

newsflash: kids who grow up in the city are no more cultured than kids who grow up in the suburbs, especially these days.

    *rob*

  5. so why is it the catholic schools are losing population and closing so much? There is large catholic immigrant population….and I think they admit non-papists.
How much is their tuition…and why are people jumping for it if they think the publics are really that bad?

  6. That house is a beaty. It must be very difficult giving up something so precious, to quote the manager of the hotel in “Pretty Woman.”

I couldn’t imagine downsizing to an apartment anfter living in a place like that.
