Catholic schools have always charged tuition. In NYC, I think tuition is about 6k which is about what it costs in other cities. They do have to pay lay teachers, altho they pay very little. Parishes have always picked up a big chunk of the tab. This is what they’re changing now. Centralizing the system.
There are still well-regarded catholic high schools in NY
Pete, not that the Catholic schools USED to be free. There were fees and parishioners hot hit up in church for school costs. But now it is a definately a sacrifice for parents to send kids to catholic schools. Always, the Catholic schools did a fabulous job with the basics and what would be the basis of a liberal arts/ classic education but ALWAYS were weak in math and science. I think now it is even a more dramatic difference with the public schools regarding this. And this is the gap that we are suffering in the country as a whole. We need better science and math education!
About my cabinet project, I salvaged a set of fancy, brand new cabinets so they are super clean but super white. I dont want super white. Think I want to spray them just to save time but I could easily take doors off.. I’ve sprayed Farrow and Ball paints and that’s easy but their paints are on the thin side.
“No, but you do resemble Boy George of Culture Club.”
Do you really want to hurt me?

“It might have come out better if we painted it horizontally as Dave did.”
Dave does lots of things horizontally and they come out better.

“Look at the taxes in the suburbs tho — I looked at places in the rivertowns that had taxes around 25k. After tax dollars tho.”
yes but you’re not paying NYC income tax. That can take a hefty chunk, and then you pay NYC proerty taxes on top.
“I’m not cultured”

Rob, the painter was absolutely adorable but can’t confirm any other details…. :0)
