  1. benson, something we can agree on. Well said, snappy. Yes, the esq. matters.

    benson, with respect to the trial record, see the link below. I think there is link to the decision itself, as well. Dahlia Lithwick thinks the decision was masterfully written for an audience of one (Justice Kennedy), although I believe the trial record and findings of fact will have a moral suasion effect, although not, apparently, on BC.

  2. Snappy;

    What’s the mystery?

    I salute you becausde of the following: even though you oppose BC’s point, you do not demonize him, and want to negotiate with him, eye-to-eye. That’s a TRULY liberal spirit, and is what democracy is all about.

    If you look at my early posts above, I said that my beef with the left is that they want to avoid the messy business of moral suasion and democracy, and try to reolve everything by a mandate or court fiat.

  3. Rob, since you confessed yesterday that you didn’t even know what Prop 8 was, you are hardly in a position to call names here, or make any pronouncements on social policy. You also can’t call yourself a true conservative, considering you don’t even participate in the political process. Those who don’t vote don’t get to bitch if things aren’t to their liking.

  4. Stop beating your dead horse and let’s talk about whether, if the word ‘marriage’ were taken out of the equation from civil law and turned over exclusively to religious organizations, opposition to ‘gay marriage’ would diminish. I think there’s a strong semantic factor here.

    There is, most certainly.

  5. Am I to take it that nobody cares about my stoop?

    BTW, Rob, Patron Saint of Brooklyn sounds pretty good. My girlfriends and I used to discuss what kind of holy cards we wanted made of ourselves when we were declared saints. She wanted one where she was in a long flowing dress with her arms folded cross her chest. Me, undecided.

  6. For once and for all, DIBS, it does not MATTER how much in dollars the rich pay. The rate is everything. If you make $20000/yr you’re paying probably 110% of you income to just get by. If you’re making $2,000,000 you can live bloody well on 50% of that. That’s why the rich should and must have a higher tax rate. It’s called progressive taxation for a reason and all countries have it.

    Stop beating your dead horse and let’s talk about whether, if the word ‘marriage’ were taken out of the equation from civil law and turned over exclusively to religious organizations, opposition to ‘gay marriage’ would diminish. I think there’s a strong semantic factor here.
