Lechacal, glad it’s so far, so good. We were joking yesterday that when I tell people they are only open M-F 9-5, people don’t believe me that they are Chinese. But once they paid off the mortgage they stopped working on Saturday. And they work hard! They came to the U.S. when they were in middle or high school. I told them I know you from a group of people who talk on the Internet about architecture. Close enough!

BTW the lesson from my story was that the Chinese guys with their own shop on Smith St are waaaaaay more honest than Toyota of Manhattan.
And it’s not just about difference in labor cost. It’s about how Toyota of Manhattan tried to tell me I needed an entire door replaced and the guy on Smith St didn’t.
two of my “best friends” in 3rd grade found a crisp $100 dollar bill in McDonalds sometime in the seventies.
they proceeded to spend it in the following manner:
1. A feast that would have made the Ming Dynasty jealous,
at a local Chinese restaurant.
2. A cart full of toy’s from PlayWorld, including the latest GI joes and a practically full scale Millenium Falcon.
3. An ice cream spending spree at a place called Fudgie’s which featured 20 different toppings poured into a plastic baseball helmet of your choice.
4. Wacky Stickers
5. A bunch of packs of Hubba Bubba
Did I mention that I didn’t even get a taste of any of the spoils?
I’m going to facebook and pasting this with a big FU to those losers!
I’ve got to check with some of my classmates. The guy I’m talking about was a long-time prof at Cooper Union. He was infamous, and he saw his freshman Physics course as the equivalent of a hazing ceremony. I thought he lived in the same building as Perry, but perhaps he lved in a nearby building.

Interesting to see legion wistful for the days before the free market hit baseball.
What we need is more regulation!
and a baseball stimulus package!
and subsidies for minor league franchises!
….wait a minute. ;(

Kens;
