  1. I worked at a toy store when I was 12, taught horseback riding at 15, ASM off-B’way at 18, waitress at 20 (also horrible, dona. But people knew I was at college & gave me way over-sized tips. My mother was there one Sunday brunch & was appalled – insisted that I share my take w/ the real workers who took up all my slack.)

  2. I taught arts and crafts at a community center (14)
I started a baby sitting service (15 – but started limiting the jobs to sit for only non-brats, thereby limiting income)
I became a waitress at 17. I was hands down the WORST waitress that poor Greek man ever saw in his life.
It didn’t stop me. I continued to amaze others. A guy on the Upper East side told me I was the worst he had ever seen. Years later took my parents to that restaurant and he told them what a nice woman I am, how charming etc. and the worst waitress he had ever seen in his decades in the restaurant business.

  3. ty, where in Vermont? I’m a flatlander, but my family had a place in Vermont since before I was born.

Where is herkimer when we’re discussing Vermont? (She assures me that she’s coming to Noki on Thursday.)
