Benson, you haven’t produced any “proof” that there is NOT a strong racist streak in Tea bagger demonstrations and rhetoric. Instead of demanding proof from others, I call bullshit, Where’s your proof that there is no racism? Don’t want to waste your day looking for video or literature? Of course not, so why should we?
I’m off to lunch. I guess I’ll leave you with this.
1. Arkady, MM, cobblehiller: Powerful people who get things done are often great listeners with a gift for hearing people out rather than lashing out at them.
2. Benson – Racism is a huge problem in Boston. More so than any other northern city as far as I am aware.
Sorry, lechecal, I strongly disagree. I think the Tea Party movement may have been started by, or initially peopled by those who sincerely believed they advocate for smaller government and less taxes. But the minute they were co-opted by far right nutballs who are now steering it in the direction they want it to go, for their own power grabbing purposes, it lost all credibility. I’m not going to speculate on whether or not they are true racists, or just using racist language to appeal to a low common denominator, but the fact remains that if it quacks like a duck, then….. There is plenty of evidence out there to support that, and I feel for someone who joined as a protest to what they felt was unfair policy. It must be akin to what people felt in the 30’s when they joined the American communist party, because it advocated social change for the masses. Or a German Bund, because it celebrated German heritage. Organizations and movements can be turned from their original purposes. The Tea Party movement is a prime example of that, and that is unfortunate.

Going from Kate Hudson to Cameron Diaz is trading up big time. But what’s with all the blonds? Doesn’t ARod want to spice it up once in awhile?

Bxgrl;
I’m not taking it today, so let’s call it straight: bullshit about that video. Post the link here on the OT, and let folks judge for themselves.
When I say I’m not taking it anymore, I mean those who try to silence debate by using ugly characterizations, like racist.
I would have to think that Legion would be right in the middle of this discussion, if he wasn’t so busy ignoring patients.
