  1. Ok…final selection…

This is a song my dad loved. About two months before he died, he had me purchase a bunch of songs off of Itunes and burn him a cd. This was the one song he wanted more than anything. He previously had it and lost it. I didn’t have the best relationship with my dad, but it makes me smile to think of how big his grin became when this song came on and how he sang along. He was actually quite the crooner.

I give you Tyrone Dave “Can I Change My Mind.” RIP dad.

    Lyrics below…

Aww, she didn’t bat an eye
As I packed my bags to leave
I thought she would start to cry
Or sit around my room and grieve
But y’all, the girl, she fooled me this time
She acted like I was the last thing on her mind
I would like to start all over again

Baby, can I change my mind
I just wanna change my mind
Baby, let me change my mind
    As I took those steps
    Toward that open door
    Knowing all the time
Oh, Lord, I just didn’t wanna go
But she didn’t give me no sign
Nothing that would make me change my mind
I would like to start all over again

Baby, can I change my mind
    Please, please, please, baby
I just wanna change my mind

    Oh, I played my games
    Many times before
But peoples, let me tell y’all
Oh, I never reached the door
But ooh, the winds howl tonight
I keep lookin’ back but my baby’s not in sight
I would like to start all over again

Baby, can I change my mind
    Please, please, please, baby
Baby, let me change my mind [Fade]

  2. Despite only hearing that song a couple of times, I just love it. Something about it takes me to a time of carefree feelings, running bare feet through fresh cut blades of grass and side-splitting laughter. Good stuff 🙂

  3. Ok…Back by request just for Cobble!

    ::DJ Snappy reporting for duty!::

Here’s a little ditty that’s been stuck in my head for days. I’ve only ever heard the song twice, and it’s given me an earworm. It’s bubblegum pop, but I just love the hook.

I give you “Come On Get Higher” by Matt Nathanson

    Lyrics below…

I miss the sound of your voice
And I miss the rush of your skin
And I miss the still of the silence
As you breathe out and I breathe in

If I could walk on water, If I could tell you what’s next
Make you believe, make you forget

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
    Just pull me down hard
    And drown me in love

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
    Just pull me down hard
    And drown me in love

I miss the sound of your voice
The loudest thing in my head
    And I ache to remember
    All the violent, sweet,
    perfect words that you said

If I could walk on water, if i could tell you what’s next,
make you believe, make you forget

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
Just to pull me down hard
    And drown me in love

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
Just to pull me down hard
    And drown me in love

I miss the pull of your heart
I can taste the sparks on your tongue
    I see angels and devils
    And God
    when you come on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on – HOLD
    Singin’ shalala la
    Singin’ shalala lala
    hwooo
    hwooo
    hwooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo

Come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
Just to pull me down hard
    And drown me in love

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
Just to pull me down hard
And drown me, drown me in love

(come on get higher, loosen my lips)It’s all wrong
(faith and desire at the swing of your hips)It’s all wrong
(just to pull me down hard and drown me in love)It’s all right

    So, come on, get higher
    Come on, get higher
    ‘Cause everything works love
    Everything works in your arms
