  1. Cgar, if, like you said, it is material and you deem it a real problem, back out. Not sure why you can’t tell your broker as to why though???

I think you should tell her so that she doesn’t steer any other potential buyer to the building.

    Sounds bad.

  2. CGar,

You know I don’t do RE law (and this is, of course, NOT legal advice), but I think you are entitled to back out and you can decide whether to say anything or not. You are probably better off saying little, but no one can make you buy without a contract, as I understand it. If you have an RE lawyer lined up, confirm with the lawyer.

If the broker is someone you are close to and you feel you owe an explanation, you might want to say something like “I learned some things about the building that make me uncomfortable, but I don’t want to say more because I learned these things in confidence.”

  3. more about healthcare,

don’t worry, we’re rapidly moving to a “two way” system
crappy insurance or pay as you go.

Canada has a national plan and private plans for those who don’t want to deal with the national plan.

these two way systems arise out of the problems inherent in the “national plans”. Just as water seeks it’s own level, people seek better care and pay for it.
I suspect the same in Australia.
The US hasn’t gone that route because the existing system was working to a certain extent, not withstanding the “crisis” that suddenly appeared with the Presidential debates of 2008.
…but now that this crap of a healthcare bill has become law, it won’t be long before the doctors start jumping ship as I’ve already seen them doing. Limiting their Medicare patients, Medicaid patients or just going to “boutique” practice. of course there is already a threat of government prosecution of doctors for not participating, which will only drive them to more resistance.
The “doctor fix” bill has not passed as yet, that’s the one that was supposed to re-instate the 21% pay cut that doctor’s are supposed to eat with this new healthcare bill. St. Vincent’s is only the tip of the iceberg.
