  1. m4l — poor underpaid union worker bought in 1986 at going rate then with 11%+ mort.interest rate and had 3 tenants (now 2) to pay for the expenses and lived in small quarters in poor condition before could scrape up enuf $$ to make nicer and increase own living space.
And I indend to hand in my union card next summer.

I don’t see how a medicare tax on unearned income for rich people will affect reg ira to roth conversion either.

  2. i do feel annoying when i ride the train everyday with a stroller during rush hours. i wish i could figure out a way around it, but i can’t. Can’t afford to stay home. Can’t afford a nanny, and not really comfortable with paying someone off the books. And avoiding annoyances didn’t seem compelling enough not to start a family.

  3. as someone who sees this stuff – cobble is right, benefits are a pretty big expense for a company

many companies have been firing employees and rehiring them at comparable pay grades, but under a ‘outside consultant’ title – just so they don’t have to pay them benefits

Rob is right too – undocumented, under the table workers who don’t pay taxes are a pretty big strain on us as a country. Nannies, as well as contractors, waiters, bartenders and anyone else who can take advantage of the system

Corporate tax cuts are a necessary evil to keep jobs in this country so we can continue to buy overpriced dilapidated century old homes and brag about them on internet blogs all day!! 😉

  4. quote:
Correct on the bodegas. The employees are all payed off the books. I bet 50% or more of the sales tax doesn’t get paid.

so are all your dirty std infested barely legal manwhores.
