legion, you sound like a socialist today. Are you suggesting if a man wants to grow organic food he shouldn’t get his subsidy same as the next farmer? And that the guvment should use his subsidy instead to educate the masses?
correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the main thrust of the article was that the efficiencies lost in acquiring the label “organic” far outweigh the potential benefits (socially and healthwise) to be gained by pursuing that goal.
the money could be better spent elsewhere, like perhaps education towards healthier eating habits for Americans in general.
mopar, I’m skeptical of organic stuff and I usually don’t buy it. I too find it very interesting that all of a sudden Walmart is selling everything organic. I also find it interesting that all coffee shops have free trade coffee and all furniture is made from certified sustainable lumber. Where did all the other stuff go???
However, you are the first to note, at 3:15, the difference in taste is due to method (small vs. large). I haven’t noticed any taste difference in organic vs regular but there certainly is a big difference when you are talking hand produced vs. mass produced, no matter if the small producer is using chemicals or not.
And I hear that some of the pest killers used in organic farming are shall we say ‘interesting’ and not what you use in your backyard.
dibs, I bet you’d agree Kobe beef is the best example of a small farm done right. Is it organic? Don’t know.
I own ADM and MON just because. And because until the world population stops growing agricultural technology better keep up.
Why is it that I will often see produce in the store that is labelled organic and is next to non-organic produce and they look identical. Makes me wonder….

Exactly….same as the Philadelphia brand cream cheese and the store brand next to it in the same exact tub, with the same lettering, etc….and countless other producys like that.
It is only the truly superior products that can’t be imitated or made generically or organically…like Sugar Babies, Mallow Cups, Goobers and Raisinets, etc, etc, etc
