  1. This is also a commentary on the education system. Fewer and fewer children are getting a private education taught by nuns. Nuns would NEVER allow the use of left hands. They would smack those type people over the left hand with a wooden ruler for any observed use of the left hand.

I am a lefty and in Russia they didn’t let you write with your left hand so I got smacked with the ruler a couple of times cause in Communism, we all had to be equal, even write with the same hand that everyone else. At some point in my childhood, I could write with both hands because of this. When I got here, became a total lefty (not politically though).

  2. Snappy, if you can’t find a humidifier, put pots of water on the stove and boil them away, it’s better than nothing. You might also want to try Bruno’s Hardware on Court St, near Schermerhorn, or even Target.

  3. Nightmare on Elizabeth Street.

Long story short: go to Jing Fong for dim sum on Sunday (don’t ask why). Get there at 10 thinking a table for four should be easy, even during Chinese New Year. We are number 11. After a thousand plus people go straight upstairs ahead of us (I assume they had people holding huge tables for them and I assume the owners just tell all their friends to head straight up), we decide to leave. We waited 1 hour and 45 minutes and left when they were still calling out number 9. Went right next door and got a table right away where we had a nice meal of chicken and Chinese vegetables, efu noodles and a rice dish. I’ll never go back to Jing Fong. It was ridonculous.

Any other recommendations (other than Golden Unicorn) for dim sum in Manhattan’s Chinatown? And please don’t mention Flushing. I know it’s good, but just not convenient. And I know the place in Brooklyn’s Chinatown that’s decent.

  4. I am leftie with a mouse. That is where was placed when company 1st installed PC computers years ago. So I assumed was supposed to be there. So that is where I learned and still goes.
For some other things left or right doesn’t matter.

  5. “what about curling?”

I’ve actually curled before and it’s a lot of fun. As are all other “sports” that allows for the consumption of copious amounts of beer in between turns, e.g., darts, bocci, pool, bowling, etc.
