dibs, once one is married, one is no longer eligible for red envelopes – instead one is now obligated to give it. my boy has been getting envelopes but I still lose out cause most of the other folks I know have 2 or more kids
Thanks Slope, I think that’s the place just off the N train in Sunset Park we’ve been to. It’s definitely a decent alternative to Manhattan.
So a Chinese co-worker just told me her family waited over an hour for a table at dim sum on Sunday in Flushing. I guess it’s not just we gweilos who are gluttons for punishment.
slopefarm- I’m going to catch and waterboard the unfortunate mousie so we’ll see. If it looks like world domination is in their plans, PLUSAs will be the first to know. (Stock up on canned goods and cheese. we may be able to placate them)
And the meter maids missed golden opportunity too – guess they’re not snow bunnies.
I’m so burning up I can probably melt the snow on the entire street.
Arkady, thought you were kidding about digging out car for alt side. come on, those lazy gov workers might not be smarties but they aint stupid enough to send out the sweeper onto streets where there’s decent amount of snow which could hinder the sweeper.
if you’re going to do something to that beemer, easiest thing is keying it (fast and cant hide the action)
“Dear Prez, bigger question is why bother with Dim Sum. The better eats are stuff you order off the menu.”
M4L, I was thinking the exact same thing approximately 90 minutes into our wait. Although I love dim sum, we could have just gone somewhere better than Jing Fong and ordered off the menu, especially given Mrs. C knows lots of the dishes and can ask whatever questions we have. Live and learn! Next time I’ll leave if we don’t get a table right away.
Ironic that you couldn’t be a lefty in Russia. I thought that was the point.
Snappy, try J&R appliances on 7th & President (no relation to the big J&R). Also try the vaccuum place on 7th Ave @ 12th Street.
Biff, for dim sum, there used to be a place on the north side of Pell, just east of Mott. If it is still there, it is good old school dim sum. Also, what about Sunset Park? Ocean Palace (or whetever it’s called) is supposed to be good, and not nearly as far as Flushing from Brooklyn Heights. But I would never try anywhere on a Sunday morning after 10 in Chinatown, particularly this time of year.
bx – I’m worried about the genetic mutation that would allow a mouse to venture into your building. that’s a lot of cats for a mouse not to be afraid of. A cat scent-resistent mouse? That’s a recipe for world domination.

Glad to see a democrat is learning something from the republicans.
