  1. “Saying I’m Mr. Property Rights doen’t make me an anarchist.”

Quite right. You need a government to make and enforce property laws.

rob — Benson was complaining about litter on 3rd St above 7th Ave. You won’t find much “underclass” in that part of the hood. Benson and I disagree a lot about regulation and such, but I see nothing inconsistent in his advocacy of property rights and his admonishment that homeowners ought to keep things tidy.

I also agree with benson’s assessment on the political stakes for Obama tonight, although he also has to follow through. The Clinton/Carter comparison is apt. Obama needs to own much more political space than he does or Carter ever did. For the last year he has let his adversaries define him and everything he tries to do.

WHY IS IT SO F**KING DIFFICULT FOR THE MTA TO LET PEOPLE KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON?????

i thought they stopped with most annoucements months ago and just text them to peoples iphones and blackberries and stuff? also most people are listening to music and never even hear the annoucement. i alwayws used to laugh when some idiot was blasting music and missed a major annoucement about skipped stops.

but yeah, sign up for the MTA text annoucements and i think you will get all annoucements for whatever your stop is texted to you immediately.

    Please explain.

  4. “It is chock full of kids, yet somehow they manage to keep the front of their homes clean.”

Yeah, I was an “urban kid.” It’s parenting, not geography that determines how respectful a child is of his/her community.

It’s packed with lazy union self entitled idiots.

The order of priority of what’s important within the MTA is this:

    The employees
    The overtime
    The trains

    and finally, the passengers.

They believe that their job is to run trains. it is NOT. That is incidental. Their job is to move passengers.
