  1. “I think the Democrats have alot riding on President Obama’s speech tonight.”

benson, I agree. But he can’t just give another speech. He’s got to deliver this time. I had really high hopes for Obama, but I feel like he’s squandered his first year in office. NOW, he’s going to focus on creating millions of jobs. That’s what he should’ve been doing when he gave his non-State-of-the-Union speech to Congress a year ago.

  2. massive RFP’s went out already to extend wireless connectivity into the NYC subway system. dont know who won the bid and if work has started. once done, our mobile phones will work underground

  3. “How would people get texts regarding the stops once they’re already in the subway?”

Thank you, Biff. Just what I was about to say. The only spot on the 4 or 5 where I get texts or email is when the train is in the Fulton Street station. A text when I’m standing 12 deep on the Borough Hall platform is utterly useless.

Don’t look down now, but I see the Brownstoner site meter icon again!!

  4. CGar- but the static you heard was the announcement. It’s hard to speak clearly with crackers in your mouth.

As for the elections- all I can say is if the Dems lose -and it will be in part from their own stupidity- then this country has short, very defective memories. So we will now re-elect the party that got us into this mess in the first place? We must be in the Twilight Zone.
