  1. Put it this way,
    traditional career paths will only bend so far in accomodating the needs of women entering the workplace over the past few decades. If I’m reading Jessi correctly, she is saying that there are some purely time-based expectations that cannot be bypassed in order to succeed. For example, to become a general surgeon, a female doctor must go through a 5 year residency program after medical school that becomes progressively harder and more demanding with each year. Not only do the children have to wait, but many times the husband does also.

  2. Slope, and it may just be a matter of eloquence. You said essentially what the partner said, but without coming right out and saying it. I’m a cut-to-the-chase kinda gal, perhaps like this partner.
