  1. Sorry about your friend, rob. That far along is a terrible loss. My sister nearly lost her son at 5 months- it was terrible but luckily they were able to stop her from miscarrying. She was a high risk pregnancy as it was because she had major uterine cysts. Just comfort her as best you can. Hopefully she will try again when she feels up to it.

    Rob, if you don’t have spices at home. I suggest you invest $7-10 and get a few basic spices. They’ll go a long way.
    Start with these…..
    Salt, black pepper, garlic powder, red pepper, cumin powder, parsley flakes.

    I know it’s hard to cook for one person (we get lazy), believe me I hate to cook, and I have some very easy and quick recipes. If you want them email me. Get my email from Snappy.

  3. Sadly, shrimp is a no-no for cholesterol purposes. I LOVE SHRIMP! This weekend I made a super delicious lemon/pepper angel hair pasta drizzled with butter (I’m not a total butter hater!) oven roasted garlic, scallions, extra virgin olive oil, and a mountain of grilled garlic shrimp. YUM! So much shrimp I may have to circumnavigate the globe on foot to work off all the cholesterol I took in. But damn, that was good.

    The work computer been acting up a lot recently – CPU running @ 100% level all the time (ie insufficient memory to serve on internet). Plus boss dumped a ton of new projects on me. Hence my MIA on the blog recently

  5. id rather just try to quit smoking again by using the patch or gum versus going on an anti-depressant for it and perhaps completely f’ing with my chemistry. i’m pro prescriptions for when people really need it, but considering i never gave it 100 percent when i tried quitting without drugs, i think it would be a better decision to try to quit (when im ready) without without the added side effects. i like all these food suggestions tho and friend suggestions tho, thanks.

  6. oooh i love bean salads actually 🙂 as many kinds of beans as possible. i think ill make a giant batch tonight.

    ugh, i knew deep down inside those meals had to be poison! but they arent even that big or filling so i just assumed they couldnt be THAT bad.

  7. Rob, DO NOT eat those frozen foods!!!
    In a pinch if you don’t feel like spending lots of time in the kitchen cooking. Make a bean salad. You can buy beans in a can fairly inexpensively. Goya has a wide variety.

    -Wash them thoroughly and drain the water (they’re already cooked so you don’t need to cook them if you don’t mind them room temp.)
    Add the following and toss:
    – olive oil
    – lemon juice
    – salt
    – cumin powder (this is a staple in most of my salads)
    – red pepper (for a little kick)
    – chopped tomatoes
    – chopped onions

    Viola! you have a healthy meal in minutes.

  8. Stick with the tomatoes, add as much fiber as you can (everything should say 100% whole wheat) and eat salmon at least twice a week with a heaping side of spinach. you’ll be great.

    Wellbutrin is so popular at present because it isn’t associated with weight gain or sexual dysfunction, while many other antidepressants are, is helpful with quitting smoking and may help with adult inattention problems. One should definitely drink lightly to moderately while taking it, however. And it has a higher recidivism rate. It is a pretty effective drug for many people struggling with depression and other problems. Don’t dismiss it out of hand.

    So sorry about your friend. The best thing anyone did for me was to say “THAT SUCKS” and I’m here for you, whenever and wherever you need to talk. Also, a gift basket with chocolates, tea, and a bunch of trashy color magazines. And the advice from everyone else to be yourself is spot on 🙂
    This really is no different from a death for her. Treat it as such.
