  1. Bxgirl, that’s a good idea of requiring new construction to install air purifying systems. That would solve the problem quite nicely and no one is going to rail against purified air. Well, except maybe the developer who doesn’t want to pay for it! But it would help with cigarettes, cooking smells, and allergies (imagine if you are allergic to cat or dog fur and your nabes have them).

  2. you smoke cigarettes but worry about side effects from Wellbutrin? I think the doctor knows what he is doing.
And DIBS may see more depressed in PS than Chelsea because they are all high on crystal meth in Chelsea with look of sexual hunger.
Unless you have terrible diet (which you don;t sound like you do) don’t need to run. Just walk (miles) daily.

  3. This is one of those areas in which I likely appear nutty, but I totally get it. I think a building should absolutely have the right to require no smoking, and I think tenants should have the right to live in a smoke-free home. Our upstairs neighbors used to smoke (they both apparently quit some time last spring – THANK GOD – after they had a little baby) and it would waft through our home as though someone were smoking in it. Not kidding. Also, it goes up the fire stairs and the elevator shafts. I really, really hated it.

  4. I can’t stand cigarette smoke and rather than intruding into people’s private lives and telling them who and what even their guests can do, why can they require smokers put in extra air purifyiers and ventilation? Or better yet, make that a requirement for all new cosntruction. Better air quality is a plus for everyone. But if this is acceptable, what’s next? I mean, its already tough enough to have a pet. What happens when your neighbor doesn’t like the smell of what you cook? (cabbage comes to mind), or the people across the street don’t like the color of your curtains? At some point we have to stop trying to control every second of every day. It doesn’t work. And if people feel the need to go this far, just make smoking illegal (I don’t think that’s so great either but why should I have to tell my guest they aren’t allowed to smoke in my home because people who don’t live there are telling me what I can do- even if its legal.

  5. I could totally understand something like smoking floors and non-smoking floors…of course then you would have the problem of people wanting to buy on particular floors for views or easy access and being stuck with whatever that particular floor mandates. Hmmm…I guess there is no easy way to do that.
