Stop and appreciate what you have, you can afford [literally and figuratively] to be a little more generous to your fellow humans.

huh? cobble, what that has to do with anything I am saying today? You have NO idea how much I appreciate what I have and what I actually earned myself and I don’t think either does Dave or Legion but I can’t speak for them.
In terms of being a little generous to fellow humans….. I don’t usually throw in people’s faces what I do or don’t have but I donate more percent of my income to charities than probably 80% of Brownstoners. I also donate loads of time to non-profit organizations and programs so please don’t comments on something you are not aware of because I say that there are people on here with sense of entitlement or that someone is being ridiculous. Not agreeing with disparity of middle class or voting republican or democrat has nothing to do with not respecting fellow human beings.
now you are speaking from emotion. and I will respond from emotion, how many fellow citizens here in nyc have similar stories of poverty and squalor and oppression which which forced them to leave their homelands. Ask them why they came here. they will tell you of a cousin, or a brother or an aunt who came here and fulfilled their lifelong dream without the assumption of a mansion or a place in the hamptons. those who just wanted to practice their religion, or be free of dictators or make enough to raise a son. they didn’t go to Venezuela to achieve that, they came here.
I will say it again, to state that a group of americans has somehow forced another group to live in sub-standard conditions or stolen something away from another group is to deny the fact that people are still living their dreams here daily. Sure there are crooks all up and down the classes, but it is not an inherent notion to our society.
No, Legion, ohmygod, I was saying that ‘chance to suceed’ is as relative a phrase as the word ‘poor.’ I was saying the boradest sense, everyone has free will, so even if the oppressed people in the other countires i mentioned conceivably could revolt, but that doesn’t mean they are not oppressed. (BTW, we don’t have ‘mechanisms for revolutions? what deos that even mean?) Here in the states, just because people have free will doesn’t mean everyone has equal opportunities to break free from the economic status, and that it is only a matter of individual will. God, my snarking is so clear.
“And Benson, too, getting little pissy when nobody attacked your personal patriotism but the irony of how ‘patriotism’ to get votes for political party”
You mean exactly what CMU did? His implication was that his political beliefs are the patriotic ones. Ridiculous.
I didn’t take it personally. I just gave his suggestion the respect it was due.
I’d vote for anyone wearing a pair of snappy bloomers
What’s with the bitterness kens, legion and DIBS?
