DIBS – the decision goes FAR FAR beyond Stuy Twn – LL have be decontrolling J-51 buildings for over a decade now – EVERY single one of those apartments falls under this decision.
Get ready for a big push to remedy this legislatively – there is no way this can hold.
The net effect is a de-professionalized industry, underperforming schools, and suppressed wages for the excellent teachers (and inflated wages for the dead weight).

Agreed. Thx for the add’l insight. I will add that I believe NYC Public School teachers are not victims of the suppression of wages, but I suspect that those teaching outside of the UFT fueled propaganda scope are perhaps not adequately compensated. I know that those who teach in parochial schools are paid much less that union boosted public school teachers. Ripe with nepotism, corruption and old school anarchist teaching staff membership, the UFT needs critical reform. PS. Bloomberg ( grew up knowing many teachers, knows of all the old line corruption that went on years ago , ( as did Giuliani- once married to a teacher) Bloomberg is in the know, this is why they will stand with Thompson who will fall in line with the socialist myth they have worked so hard to perpetuate.
“MORE ON TISHMAN….they are lining up their bankruptcy. the real loserds are the bondholders for the loans”
Can’t say I’ve an ounce of sympathy for them. It was a boneheaded business move from square 1 – and PLENTY of people said so at the time (and not months after when it was obviuous things were going pear-shaped).
Sorry for my major grammar and spelling mistakes. Hopefully my point gets across fine. I am loving the discussions today but crazy busy at work and no time to proofread.
BTW – Bxgrl and others seem to miss the way people are compensated – it isnt based on utility (if that was the case nannies, teachers, nurses and primary care physicians would be paid the highest and baseball players would be paid the lowest)
Labor is paid EXACTLY like most other commodities – supply/demand=what people are willing to pay. That simple. It is relatively easy to become a carpenter or a plumber (not necessarily a good one or an honest one) but it is very difficult to be a relief pitcher (or to become a CEO) and people seem to value the later – so they are willing to pay lots of $ for them. Even if their societal usefulness is limited or even a negative.
MORE ON TISHMAN….they are lining up their bankruptcy. the real loserds are the bondholders for the loans. This will be the largest loss in CMBS history.
“carpenters, construction workers, factory workers, creative professionals are looked down on,”
You’re equating what society thinks someone should be paid with how much esteem scoiety holds those persons in.
As a medical researcher I got paid $27K a year for about a 72 hour week. To my knowledge I was never held in low-esteem by anyone, in fact I was held in higher esteem than my current job. I don’t think anyone here, from Benson to DIBS, holds carpenters or factory workers or any other hard-worker in low esteem. But that doesn’t mean they think they should be paid silly money.
Alright, let’s move on to a more vital subject..
FSRG, a good portion of the OT a few weeks ago was devoted to speculation about the meaning of your acronym/handle.
Care to let us know??? We’ll even take a characterization of it.

I certainly do not look down upon anyone who learns a trade and works hard. it takes a lot of work to become a licensed electrician and plumber.
Creative professionals are a different story. 🙂

The tenants will never see a dime.
