Just saw this again for the first time in ages and thought I would share because I don’t think they made it that big on your side of the pond (although ready to stand corrected).

PLUSA sighting: Not etson, who works across the street, but lechacal, standing in front of my building, and whom I tried my best not to embarrass in front of his colleagues (no PLUSA secret handshake, etc.)!
Haha, Arkady! She wasn’t elderly from my perspective. She was almost too young to be my mom. However, compared to the cop, who must have been in his early ’20s, she seemed much older.
Kens, I think both cultures have their merits. On the one hand, many (not all) Jewish parents seem to want to give every last cent to their kids and will do everything for them. I don’t think this means Chinese parents wouldn’t do the same. However, the Chinese culture is incredibly admirable to me in how much the children respect their parents and other older relatives, which is in contrast to what we typically see in other cultures in North America, and how the kids will do anything for and respect their parents. Just seems to be different expectations between the parents and kids between the two cultures, but I respect both.
DIBS, sorry, try these:

Dave, considering that the caption says it’s 12″ tall, I don’t think you’d be able to, uh…take to many ‘liberties’ with that thing 🙂

“Biffers, dear, 65 doesn’t qualify as “elderly”.”
