According to a Brooklynian post, an early morning stabbing occurred outside of the Branded Saloon, at Vanderbilt and Bergen. Says the commenter: “Details are fuzzy, but it seems that there was some form of altercation between a dog-walker and a bar patron and bartender that left one person dead and the other hospitalized in serious condition.” So far, seems unclear if this was definitely a homicide. Anyone know more details? Update: One dead, one injured has been confirmed. (Both were employees of the Branded Saloon.) There is also one suspect in custody. There will be a candlelight vigil on Saturday night at the bar.

  1. Castrate the perp. I’m so sick of the macho bs that in some guy’s mind gives him permission to knife another human being to death. According to the NY Post, the wife of the perp stood by and said nothing. Class act all around.

  2. This bar continues to be a shitshow, which apparently attracts shittypeople. Yet another reason amongst many not to return to this craptastic establishment, can’t wait for their five year lease to end. Sorry to hear a good man was killed there.

  3. wow denton. If that’s the case we have to develop some way of keeping better track of these people after they are let out. Convicted killer / early hours of the morning / in a bar / with a knife seems like a situation that shouldn’t happen.

  4. etson, that’s how it is. Note it was manslaughter not murder. When it’s a big story that makes the papers, prosecutors go for the big sentence. If it’s just a coupla guys in the hood, they don’t want to clog up the system. SO they plea bargain down, then guy gets 10-15 years, gets time off for good behavior and so on.

  5. The Daily News’ coverage is horrible. The Post actually has a more accurate story: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/man_stabbed_during_early

And the back and forth about whose dog could beat up whose wasn’t serious — one of them owned a mini pin, for god’s sake. Either way, it’s always classy to call a murder victim a loser — especially when he worked in Broolyn, was friends with Brooklyn business owners, and is known by at least one person who reads this blog.
