Food is average at best.
Service is terrible.
I am sure a better place will replace it.
“also DH- I’m not sure that the “perfectly fine” locations in Nolita and DUMBO aren’t doing as well as you think. It may just be a case of poor management, but it also sounds like the the whole concept has aged beyond it’s lifespan. ”
yeah maybe. i know the one in nolita does a booming delivery business. and no one goes anywhere in dumbo, so hard to gauge.
anywho – does anyone know if this rumor about Moe’s closing is true?

Pretty sure the addition of National Thai in the ‘hood didn’t help Rice at all.
I only went to Rice once in Nolita. Too many carbs! Not enough food. Typical Manhattan place. Never went back.

“I may be going out on a limb here but I’d submit most people eat out at mediocre places most of the time. The same ol’, same ol’ phenomenon. Who goes to a fabulous dinner every time they go out?â€
Agreed. This is why I love Rice! It’s a great place to stop off on the way home when you don’t feel like cooking. Asian Slaw and Coconut curry are delicious! (soy meatballs, not so much) And, they give you free rice crispie treats! I’d be sad if the one in DUMBO closed. It’s quick and clean – something to pay a few bucks extra for.
we’ll see!
It’s be nice if it was like a gourmet sandwich shop. A place where you could pick up a few things–sandwiches, drinks, prepared salads etc and then take them to park (and they would also deliver. We need better delivery options).
oh please dh. that is one of the most desirable corners in the neighborhood.
