rice-small-012811.jpgThe Local shares some terrible news today: the Rice location at 166 Dekalb Avenue will close this Sunday. This comes years after we found a Craigslist advertisement seemingly trying to sell the spot. The Local also reports the Dumbo location will remain open, and we gave them a call just to confirm. (It will stay open.) Bummer for Fort Greene residents.

  1. I may be going out on a limb here but I’d submit most people eat out at mediocre places most of the time. The same ol’, same ol’ phenomenon. Who goes to a fabulous dinner every time they go out?

  2. “dh did you fail economics? there’s absolutley no reason to support a business you don’t like there product.”

yeah – because potential business owners are really going to want to invest in a neighborhood where a perfectly fine restaurant (that is successful in Dumbo and Nolita) goes out of business

  3. It always looked really sad inside. It’s supposed to be a restaurant, but it acted as though it was just another coffee shop. (As if FG needed another one of those.) This is an ideal location for something though, so I do hope something really great opens up. AND STAYS OPEN LATE! No more coffee bars, PLEASE!
