We stopped by the grand opening this morning of Crumb’s Bakery at 109 Montague Street, an event that the Brooklyn Heights Blog has been covering with breathless anticipation. Although it wasn’t exactly hopping this morning, it is a little early for a cupcake. If anyone stops in today, lets us know how it is! GMAP

  1. “”(including those that one can walk to in DUMBO/Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, etc.)?”

    No. I wouldn’t say that.”

That’s exactly what many people, including me, like about BH. While (despite what you imply) it does have some very good restaurants, one can easily walk to other more densely populated stretches on Court, Smith etc. and return to a beautiful, serene neighbourhood to relax.

  2. DIBS — how do you not know about Heavenly Crumbs on Franklin? Or Desserts by Michael Allen in Clinton Hill, an easy walk from where I live in Bed Stuy?

@Biff: “Would you say the restaurant and shopping options there are better than in Brooklyn Heights?”

    Yes. Yes I would.

“(including those that one can walk to in DUMBO/Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, etc.)?”

    No. I wouldn’t say that.

    Seriously? You people like Crumbs?

  3. BIff – trust me here are some of the best flavors I have tried at Crumbs:

    Vanilla without sprinkles – delish
“baba-booey” – is a chocolate peanut butter delight
Cookie dough or cookies and cream – again unreal
apple spice pie – omg – not sure they have this all the time

  4. bultrey, you’re in BedStuy. Would you say the restaurant and shopping options there are better than in Brooklyn Heights (including those that one can walk to in DUMBO/Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, etc.)?

G10, I may turn into a cupcake fan after your strong recommendation!
